The problem

Why the usual workflow gets in the way.

The returned document is supposed to contain one small correction. Reading the two files separately makes it easy to miss a changed number, a removed sentence or lost bold text.

The solution

How Diff Anything handles it.

Export a Word copy of each Pages document, then compare the two copies in Diff Anything. See the changed text and formatting side by side, jump through the differences and mark each one as reviewed. Everything runs locally on your Mac; your documents are never uploaded and no AI is involved.

01 / Pages document comparison

Export copies while keeping the Pages originals

Open the first document in Pages and choose File → Export To → Word. Click Save, check the filename and folder, then click Export. Repeat for the second version. The original .pages documents stay unchanged.

Keep the filenames distinct so you can tell which copy you sent and which one came back. This workflow compares the exported Word documents.

02 / Pages document comparison

Find more than the promised typo

In the tutorial, a returned lease contains six differences: five text changes and one formatting change. The comparison reveals changed amounts, a removed sentence, a new clause and a sentence that is no longer bold.

The Differences list keeps the changes together. Click an entry to jump to it, then mark it as reviewed as you work through the document.

03 / Pages document comparison

Review text and formatting

Choose Text changes to focus on wording, Formatting changes to inspect changes such as lost bold text, or Both to see them together.

This comparison checks the text and its formatting, not the layout of the page. It does not show that an image moved to a different position on the page.

Free comparisons and Pro

The free version allows 10 new comparison sessions per day, with each Word file up to 5 MiB. Pro removes the session and file-size limits and adds export.
